MySchool website to show state of school finances next year

The Federal Minister for School Education, Mr Garrett, announced yesterday a new version of the MySchool website will include financial information for each school.

A spokesman from ACARA, the government body which provides the information for the MySchool site, said the new version of the website will include income and expenses for each school, and say how much money each school gets both from governments, and private sources.

4ZZZ News reported in November that government schools faced enormous financial disadvantages compared to private schools. We spoke today to Trevor Cobbold, author of a report called “Closing the Gaps”, about those differences in school funding.
