A far north Queensland prison work camp has been shut down after claims inmates were being allowed to take drugs, watch pornography and go on unsupervised shopping trips

A former prisoner at the Innisfail work camp, south of Cairns, says prisoners are living a life of luxury with unlimited visits from girlfriends and easy access to drugs.
The Queensland Corrective Services Department has confirmed it shut the camp yesterday and will appoint independent investigators to examine the allegations.
The prison camp was set up in the wake of cyclone Larry in 2006 to help with the clean-up effort.
