Charters Towers Flying Foxes

The Department of Environment and Resource Management supports the Charters Towers Regional Council in their bid to rid the town of thousands of Flying Foxes.

The Department of Environment and Resource Management rejected the first application from the council to remove the bats using helicopters because it could not guarantee the bats safety.

MP Shane Knuth says he will back the council in applying to the State Government for a second time.

The bats are reportedly causing problems at a nearby hospital.
