Bligh Government’s Response to CMC’s Restoring Order Report

1 Bligh government announces today a new plan to tackle high levels of crime and distrust of police in Queensland's 19 remote communities. The reforms are being implemented in response to last year's CMC Restoring Order report into indigenous policing. The CMC said alcohol management plans and "blue blitzes" of the communities had not done enough to reduce crime and instead engendered resentment among the communities towards police. The proposed Indigenous Policing Partnership Command was rejected by the Queensland Government because they do not support the structure recommended by the CMC.
