Undiagnosed HIV in Brisbane a big problem

Queensland Health professionals are concerned about the rising number of undiagnosed HIV cases around Queensland.

Queensland HIV Service professionals admit they are worried that HIV and other sexually transmitted infection rates in Brisbane have worsened, with a sizeable amount of undiagnosed cases of HIV on the rise.

Dr Patten from Queensland Health says that people live in denial and don’t want to face the reality of their situation and are actually shortening their chance of living longer lives by not seeking treatment.

Concern over the rise of HIV cases come in the wake of last week’s health scare. HIV-positive acrobat, Godfrey Zaburoni, is being charged for deliberately passing on the virus to dozens of Australian women.
