Green MP calls for electoral reform in NSW

NSW Green Upper House MP Lee Rhiannon says the New South Wales electoral system needs reform. She pointed to the result in Thursday's election in the UK, where the Liberal Democrats got about a quarter of the vote but only won about one seat in ten. Ms Rhiannon said New South Wales had a similar distortion for its Lower House, as the Greens won about one vote in ten in the Lower House in 2007 but won no seats.

Ms Rhiannon said state and federal parliaments need proportional representation, where a party that gets one vote in ten should win about one seat in ten.
