Indian Police not to use ‘Truth Drug’: Supreme Court

Indian police are no longer allowed to use drugs to compel evidence for court.

India’s Supreme Court yesterday ruled that the practice, which included the use of Sodium penthanol, which is believed to numb brain function and therefore prevent lying, is a violation of civil liberties.

The courts will also not admit evidence from polygraph tests, even with the consent of the accused.
