Two rival meetings of The Wilderness Society were held yesterday, reports the Examiner newspaper. The current national committee led by executive director Alec Marr met yesterday. A Tasmanian Supreme Court injunction granted last Friday banned that meeting from holding a vote by phone on constitutional changes. The court ruled on April 22 that the annual general meeting held last November, which appointed the current management committee, was invalid. Another meeting was held by the group Save the Wilderness Society, which says it has dismissed the management committee and elected a new one.
