Ute Five facing manslaughter of Aboriginal Park Ranger

Five men face sentencing over the manslaughter of an Aboriginal park ranger in Alice Springs.

Donny Ryder was threatened to have his throat slashed and to be cooked like a kangaroo before he was beaten to death by the five men last July at Todd River.

The men have been dubbed the “Ute Five” and have remained in protective custody in an Alice Springs jail for the past 8 months.

Suggestions have been raised that the crime may be racially motivated and extra security will be present when NT Chief Justice Brian Martin delivers the sentence this morning.
