Reserve wages to be cut

Reserve soldiers will no longer be paid to march on Anzac day, unlike their regular Army comrades.

In an attempt to cut spending, and rather than cutting big-ticket items like the multi-billion-dollar aircraft carriers set to arrive in 2011, the government has cut Reserve training, ammunition and pay.

Major General Barry, head of the Defence Reserves Association, says that the Defence Force has simply run out of dough. He warns of mass-walkouts by Reservists, who are regularly called upon to deployments like East Timor.
