The Queensland government is undermining it’s own environmental report into a recent natural gas project, the Queensland Conservation Council says.
The Tokyo Gas has already announced an agreement with the State to supply 1.2 million tonnes of Liquid Natural Gas from a planned mine near Gladstone. However, the deal has not yet recieed environmental approval.
Queensland Conservation Council executive director Toby Hutcheon blames the state government for the announcement. He also claims that this leads to a conflict of interest, where the state government is unwilling to stop the already announced project being approved.
