Brisbane City Council will kick off National Youth Week on Friday April 9 with its first ever silent disco, to be held in King George Square .

Participants will be able to listen to Brisbane disc jockeys, DJ Bacon or DJ Danny Cool using two channelled digital wireless headphones.  

The concept of the silent disco was reportedly developed by two Dutch DJs in 2002 to tackle impending noise restrictions and provide a viable option for “after parties”, with Silent DJ parties already becoming fixtures of major festivals such as the UK’s Glastonbury festival and Australias Big Day Out.

The Brisbane disco will be a drug and alcohol-free event with free entry. Further info can be found on
