Goverment fails to introduce Net censorship in Autumn session

The Australian Government’s plan to censor the Internet has not yet been introduced to Federal Parliament. Communications Minister Stephen Conroy said in December that the Government expected to introduce new censorship legislation in the Autumn 2010 session. The Autumn session finished last Thursday, March 18.

Senator Conroy last week attacked the organisation Electronic Frontiers Australia, which opposes Internet censorship. The attacks came after Reporters Without Borders placed Australia under surveillance as a potential enemy of the Internet, because of the Government’s censorship plans.
