A self-described faith healer based on the Sunshine Coast has been ordered to shut down his program, which he says can cure cancer through no more than healthy living and faith.
Darryl Jones, who has no medical qualification, has been served an injunction by the Australian Competition Consumer Commission against his business, claiming that it is misleading or deceptive. It is not allowed to operate until he shows a court evidence supported by a doctor or some other qualified official.
Mr Jones claims that the ACCC is trying to make an example of him and what he describes as the entire Alternative Medicine industry. He claims that fighting the ACCC in court will cost over 100,000 dollars, and he may even go to jail.
