Aboriginal Domestic Violence Report

Aboriginal women assaulted through domestic violence do not report incidents to authorities believing that their children may be removed from them.

A three year study tabled to Queensland State Parliament yesterday addresses domestic violence and child safety issues.

The 147 page report provides some support for mandatory reporting of domestic and family violence.

The report considers a major reason for not reporting violence or breaches of domestic violence orders is the fear of intervention by Child Safety and the removal of children.
