Cars using Chinatown Mall as Chinatown Street

More than a dozen cars have traveled at high speed through the pedestrian-only Chinatown Mall, since it’s February 12th opening, City News reports.

Although not a vehicle road, bollards are not installed to prevent cars entering. Several take advantage of this fact, including at least one that made a return trip.

Counselor Hinchliffe, who’s office is in the mall, describes the situation as incredibly dangerous.

Council spokesman Troy Bilsborough that the area was deliberately left accessible to vehicles to allow for quick emergency access.
