New RBH staph trials

Researchers conducting investigative vaccine trials for golden staph carried out in Brisbane at the Royal Children’s Hospital require healthy adults to participate in research study.

It is estimated that 20% of the Australian population are carriers of staph, however there are no ill effects from carrying the bacteria.

Queensland Paediatric Infectious Diseases Laboratory Head Michael Nissen says the research is an important step in the aim to find a safe and effective vaccine against the staph bacteria.
