Sunflower Comp

Over 1000 school students in Queensland and Northern New South Wales are participating in a sunflower growing competition.

The challenge to grow the biggest sunflower in eleven weeks is run by the University of Queensland’s School of Land, Crop and Food Sciences.

Students are encouraged to experiment with any variables, such as soil, light and fertilizer.

The official planting will be on Tuesday, with the final weighing and crowning of biggest sunflower on May 25.
