Queenslands maths “bottom of the pile”

Queensland maths skills are the worst in the country according to a former member of the Qld Board of Senior Secondary School Studies.

John Ridd, a former schoolteacher and member of the QLD board of Senior Secondary School Studies says Overall, Australia has poor maths skills and Queensland and the Northern Territory are bottom of the pile.

New QSA syllabi/assessment systems for maths and numerical sciences in Years 11 and 12 mark a drastic decline in standards and the introduction of ludicrous assessment systems at those levels, parliament needs to act now to improve Queensland’s schools, Mr. Ridd says.
