Immigration Labour Force an Invaluable Resource

The Queensland Chamber of Commerce and Industry has warned harsh immigration laws may rob Australia of a skilled labour workforce.

Large-scale projects in Queensland are desperately seeking truck drivers, plumbers, engineers and more but the government has not made these opportunities available to foreigners on the Department of Immigration’s Critical Skills List due to an upcoming overhaul of the work visa application process.

Currently, skilled migrants make up a large percentage of the labour force, and the Chamber says a drop in this number would be disastrous for the economy.
