Australia’s Solar Potential Wasted

Australia is the world’s largest carbon emitter, and it is likely to stay this way as the government snubs the chance to overhaul our energy production with solar technology.

Coal-fuelled energy stations will remain our main source of power despite Australia having one of the best solar resources in the world, according to executive director of lobby group Beyond Zero Emissions, Matthew Wright.

Australia Solar Energy Society Chairman John Grimes says Australia has had the potential to lead solar energy production since the 70s, but has now been eclipsed by countries such as Germany and Spain.
