Future Risk

A new report titled Future Risk has been released this month from the Fire Brigades Employees’ Union and Greenpeace.

The report states the frequency of catastrophic fire danger could increase in Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra and Sydney by 2050.

The report charts different scenarios for the future of bushfires in Australia based on current pledges to cut emissions made by countries during negotiations in Copenhagen last December.

The report also states if we stay on our current path we can expect by 2050 for Canberra to nearly quadruple in the frequency of catastrophic bushfire danger.
