Redcliffe turtles distracted

In north of Brisbane last night, hundreds of newly hatched turtles were rescued after they were found heading into a BBQ area.

The baby loggerhead turtles were noticed by a family in the park and herded back towards the ocean, helped by local residents, police and staff from Australia Zoo.

Vet nurse Anne Cruickshank from Australia Zoo says it’s not unheard of for nearby street lights to distract turtles, normally heading towards the moon over the sea.
