Fortitude Valley artist calls on Brisbane City Council to work with graffiti artists

A Fortitude Valley artist has called on the Brisbane City Council to work with graffiti artists rather than against them.

Oliver Walker, owner of Monty’s Auto Colour, has worked with graffiti artists as well as various councils and Queensland Rail. He says the best way to stop illegal graffiti is by erecting legal graffiti parks similar to skate parks.

Mr Walker says of graffiti artists, “The majority of people get into it as an outlet, but if they stick to it long enough they realise there are rules to our sub-culture.’’
