Blue whales sing deep

An oceanographer has reported blue whale singing has dropped lower over the last few decades.

Mark McDonald has gathered whale song data from around the world and found that since the 1960s, the frequency of blue whale song has dropped by 31%.

The researchers do not know the reason for the deeper singing, but suggest population growth, warming climate and increased shipping as some factors which have affected blue whales’ environment.
