Academic Measurement Innaccurate: Grattan Institute

Grattan Institute Program Director of School Education, Dr Ben Jensen has warned the government that their current measurement techniques for national academic progress in schools is inaccurate.

Dr Jensen and the Grattan Institute have proposed a new ‘value-added’ program similar to overseas standards which have been proven effective.

Dr Jensen says the current model holds a bias against schools in low socio-economic areas, and the proposed model which takes into account a child’s individual progress at a school would be more useful.
