NSW Education Minister Verity Firth has handed over the results of years three, seven and nine literacy and numeracy tests to the Federal Government to publish on a controversial website. The website will publish school test results to increase accountability. NSW Greens MP John Kaye said the website is unfair and will name and shame schools with low test scores. “Schools which do an excellent job will none the less end up on the website being named as failures. “Schools which simply serve communities without a lot of interest in education will end up like they’re not doing a good job when in fact they’re doing an excellent job. “This is an unfair measure of school progress,” Dr Kaye said.
