Indigenous groups sing to fight mine

Two Indigenous music groups have released a single in protest of the proposed Angela-Pamela Uranium Mine near Alice Springs.

Basil Schild has said that the proposed mine is only ten kilometres from the outskirts of Alice Springs, and the single aims to raise local awareness.

Mr Schild said, “Up to this point, most of the Indigenous people around Alice Springs have been totally unaware of this proposal. So we wanted to have a song that was basically all in the languages of the desert, so we’ve got this dance song to help people be able to be informed and debate the issue.”
