Government $80 million injection

The Queensland Gambling Help Network has criticized a move by the government to inject $80 million into the racing industry over the next four years.

Queensland Treasurer Andrew Fraser has defended the move, saying the money will come from a 50% reduction on wagering tax revenues and not from the Treasury.

The racing industry currently employs 43 000 people and has been called “critical to Queensland’s economy and many local communities” by Mr Fraser.
