Tree from 1770 to get the chop

A crow’s ash tree has been growing in Wooloowin from before Captain Cook landed in 1770 and will be cut down this month, City North news reported.

The tree will be chopped down to make way for Airport Link construction.Thiess John Holland communications manager Deirdre McCue said attempting to save the tree could be risky to both the survival of the tree and to the neighbouring heritage-listed St Andrew’s rectory as the root system extends underneath the Church.
