Indigenous runners aim for Big Apple

Former world champion marathon runner, Robert de Castella, has begun a search for six young Indigenous Australians who have the potential to run the New York marathon this year.

After selection trials in Alice Springs, the final six runners chosen will head to the Australian Institute of Sport to begin training in earnest.

Mr de Castella says the program aims to create a culture of health and fitness in Indigenous communities, and provide positive role models to younger children.
