Budget cuts mean prisoners and prison officers at risk

The New South Wales Industrial Relations Commission has announced that there will be a number of court security officers made redundant due to budget cuts.

This means one officer will monitor four prisoners, and this will get done by observing CCTV screens.

The families of prisoners are also concerned about this cold change, because there will be not enough officers on duty to monitor the prisoners with an erratic, unpredictable and life-threatening behaviours.

The Green Corrective Services spokesperson, Ms Sylvia Hale says, To make cost savings at the risk of further endangering anyone’s life is unacceptable’
